Sound and Action

Sound and action and this unit will be presenting three exercises which I'll perform using different software’s to present end too show my understanding in this area the software’s I'll be using to present all my work will be in premiere pro Maya an unreal most of the software I am very confident in using from previous experience but the newest software I'll be using to present my work will be  Fmode

Show case

The images which I'm showing and the videos are work from my previous units an my previous years  models I have shown on the images next door are all my 3D modelling models which I want to show off for my showcase for this I will be rendering all of my models in a 360 degrees with textures and wireframe if possible for this I'll be using Maya an Adobe to be able to present something combined with all my work I'll be introducing all my old work with some of my new work which I would happily present to everyone to show how far along I have been doing all this work before after I combine all of my work I will put in premier pro an present a showcase with all of my work that will includes some music I have used in the past or I have made or recorded for previous units

The screenshots I have provided from Adobe premiere pro or how I have managed to combine every single my 3D models to integrate them within the timeline an Adobe to be able to present more as you can see I have put a lot of different effects to be able to match and to make my transition from one model to another much more smoothly I have simply used some of the transitions to be able to make the video much more better for the eyes as you can see there is two or three screenshots off different presented work an most of these transitions an ending scenes are done by using little filters and more

As you can see the videos above or some of the work I have done from last year I have placed them there as my reference for my work I have chosen these videos because I feel strongly I have done as much as I could to make these animations or motion capture information into a fine animation I wish I spend more time and editing them back in the day but because if working remotely and not having much access to the universities computers I couldn't edit them as best I could as you can see here I have linked the song I have used for my tutorial which I have worked with it on audacity software where you can download and put music on and edit it from there and from there I have taken down some of the sounds such as the singing and the base which I have edited myself

After working mainly on my showcase to present my work I have added the different elements I wanted to add such as my old work from my first year up to what I have done now and I'm very proud of it as much as I would like to add more work to showcase the first draught wasn't a success I feel that I could have done more work on the draught but in the end, when I put it together to the final showcase I think it will work very well I used some music I have referenced for the showcase to give it more of to feel like this is a work I can be proud of an after adding all the different fades into my work and the different transitions from one to another from one video to another video I think the work has been presented quite well but they can be places where I can improve it such as when the next slide starts of the video the music can be changed slightly lower

Final Showcase

After changing some of the images around putting more of a fade into some of them with different timing putting the music with no vocals and to suit and implementing a very well-done work on the showcase I think that I have done well on the fades but I think that I should have done more work on the different timing so it can match with the music I have selected. as much as it's matching with some of the different transitions I think I could have done more work on the showcase and added some of one or two more models to present my work in a different light and much better from what it is but all I know I think that the showcase represents my work quite well and presents all of my work from the first year till now very well there is some things I would love to change if I had more time and add some more but the showcase for this task I think it has been completed

Environmental Audio

For this task environmental audio, I feel very strongly I for this task I would like to make my own environments such as model most of the work such as houses trees bridge more into this so I can show my artistic style is as much as I need to do the environment sounds which I have I have a plan how to add the sounds and also present an amazing work for this environmental audio I will make myself work on a different era of what I'm used to an I will be making a snowy village with the shrine an A couple of houses that being said I will have to focus mainly on the modelling and also environmental sounds such as wind birds and more

As you can see from the images above and on the left I have worked mainly with unreal and Maya to create this environment the trees however I had to outsource from Danville market which I have place the link underneath to present which assets I have used I feel that my environment I have made can use a bit more work in with adding the different sounds into my Adobe premiere pro I think the environment will look amazing and sound amazing

On the bottom I will be linking a environment back which I use the trees assets to work on my models and also to get my environment looking a bit more like a snow environment I use some of the trees and the grass do make different areas which some of them more forest areas of the morbid grassy area in by covering some of the grass with the snow it gives the illusion of a winter and

For my first environmental audio I have worked and downloaded a couple of sounds from different sources to be able to enhance them and also changed some of the volumetrics on them using audacity and then transferred them into Adobe premiere pro and changed some of the settings within their as well to create my first draught of how I think should be my environmental audio without being said how to link the sources I have used below with information of where are they going to be placed in why I used it

On the bottom I'm going to be linking most of I audio sounds I have used from the different sources and also the link from where I got the audio from most of the audio is outsourced from different websites to be able to create the different sound effects within the game whilst your walking around or you just looking at the environment the sounds I have used are all mixed Anne are being changed with audacity an Adobe premiere pro to be able to give the illusion of you're end the forest or you are in the shrine

Nature sounds Meditation forest sounds of birds singing relaxation - 4 minutes - YouTube

I have downloaded the birds sound effect from the YouTube website I have presented on top I have achieved the sounds within making the sounds in Adobe sound louder when the character goes closer to the main village I achieved that by editing the settings within the Adobe premiere volume settings where I have increased the sounds when the camera zooms in towards the main area without being said I have shown on the top four the screenshots or for Adobe where I have changed some of the settings

Final Environmental Audio

After creating the photos draught and looking at what I have done less work and where I have done more work I have readjusted my scenes and then changed a couple of things such as different sounds added some of the old sounds outdent like and change them around an hour now I think the work I have presented for the final environmental audio has been fairly decent I wish there was more time I can work on a couple more things such as change or add more audio and certain areas where I would of love to hear it more or add a couple more sounds by myself into Adobe but all I know I think that the work I have presented is satisfied my expectations seeing that this is the first time I have done something like this

 Adaptive Audio

For this final task which is adaptive audio I'll be using all they have learned from the previous tasks and be using Maya Adobe premiere pro-FMood an unreal to be able to create and also trigger different effects with this adaptive audio most of the effects, I'll be using from my environment but others will be for small sounds such as walking MPC walking and the different footsteps of snow water and wood I'll be showing the difference perspectives of my work such as screenshots from Adobe an Fmood to be able to show my progress an how I have presented and walked around some of the areas to be able to create the adaptive audio with all of this being said I'll be using one more software which is audacity like I used it in the previous tasks to be able to download change the different sounds and also when I put into F mode to be able to mix it and to create a better audio than anything else

FMood

F mode is software which you can mix specific sounds so I can use them for my environmental game audio task this semester I have learnt a lot about F mode I have found it a bit difficult but with a little bit of guidance and self-learning I understood how at works. whatever modes the first couple of days once I integrated it into unreal and from there start mixing and creating different sound variations I found out that with F mods you can make any type of sound and then change it within the create a better and much more smooth looking sound to be able to put into the game here is some screenshots on top which I have taken myself whilst I was working with effort I managed to create a big priority of sounds I recorded a couple of footsteps over and over and change them within F modelled in a town at completely different from the original or the ones I have made every time I have changed something within F mode it automatically changed it from F mode automatically too unreal.

Will add more there is different options when you're mixing and the one which I was looking into was snapshots to create a much more better quality of sounds and also enhance some of the properties of the sound of the drums for example because in my environmental audio I didn't add it but for this task I have added a lot of adaptive audio's such as wind different bird sounds footsteps of snow water and would also have changed the properties of the Mpc's when they're walking around you can hear them surrounded them I also added when you enter the village a sound of the drums which that's where the snapshot has come in handy from there I worked very hard to understand what was a snapshot and different kinds of variations of sounds which was very hard to achieve but in the end the end product of the drum sounds and more well satisfying towards me and I hope the sound satisfies anyone who hears it

Lakes (freesfx.co.uk)

For the lake noise how I had to work a little bit more because I want to make sure when I was working with F modes when the player gets near the water he can hear it and when he gets away from the water he cannot hear it that's why when I was working on F mode I was playing around with some of the mixer settings and the actual settings within the track to ensure that after I uploaded it to unreal then I had to just place the sound add the water and then change the range around it so when the player walks into the lake area he can hear the sound and then when he accessed the area the sound gets lower and lower and then until he can't hear it

| BBC Sound Effects (bbcrewind.co.uk)

For the sound of the drums which I have worked extended on to make sure that the sound quality and also the beat of the drum goes well with the game I have worked on making the drum sounds like you were there whilst I was trying to outsource most of my sounds for the drums I have try it recorded but I found it extremely hard and also I had to find a different way to record my drum so I went on a couple of websites to record and to find a different source after I found one I worked in audacity too remove some of the vocals if there was any and then just have the plain drum after that I went on F mode and worked heavily on the drums changing around some of the qualities and the surrounding then I'm created a snapshot which I have linked on the top images where it made the drum sound appropriately an very well for the game after that I had some little issues but I resolved them whilst working within F mode to make sure that the recording has become in leap mode so every time the character goes on on it again he can hear it and also to change how long an from how far the volume can go all that was done from F mode and the area around it I had to change within unreal I think with the drums it was most of hard for me to work on it seeing that they have very less experienced with mould and sound in general I think I did a great job working with mods for the drum sounds

Walking Sound Snow | Free Sound Effects | Human Sounds (freesoundslibrary.com)

For this soundtrack I have added snow footsteps I had two variations one for my main character and one from the MPC characters I have downloaded it from there isn't it on top and I have added a couple of variations from the same snow footsteps sound to my character as well I just went on audacity cut a couple of cuts on the soundtrack then when I went to F mode I changed them up with a different deepness of the sounds for the mpc's I have made them more louder and more crunchier when they put steps on the snow and for the main character I have changed it to be more deeper when the the character steps on the snow.

Walking Sound Snow | Free Sound Effects | Human Sounds (freesoundslibrary.com)

This is the same footsteps but in a different audio track this is the main characters footsteps as you can hear there is a similarity between the first one and the second one but I change them up by using F mode and also audacity when I placed him into the unreal from there I had to go to the character animation to change when they footstep is on the ground to place it on the timeline and afterwards I had to play a little bit with the F mod sound and from there every time I made a different change into the F mode the sound changed his own which was quite great in my opinion

Freesound - "FootSteps" by Rosalie__89

With the word footstep I had to download it from a website I have presented on top for this link and from there I had to change some of the audio around it to suit what I was looking for after changing and cutting stuff with end a city and then placing an F mode I had to play with a mixer to being able to change some of the sound to be able to get it the way I wanted to hear it after playing with mods mixers I was happy to place it into unreal and then from there I had to do a simple change from the footstep of the snow to the footstep of the woods I had to use a cup of blueprints too change every time the character steps on snow it will hear snow but every time it stepped on something which I placed there's a wood material to be wood material that's why I made smart materials for my project which I have worked intensely to be able to get it working and from there I placed the sound of the what footstep so every time the character steps on something which I selected as a wood material it will make the noise over would footstep

For this sound I created it myself so after researching how I can make sounds I wanted to try myself for a sliding door to achieve that I took a wooden plank and my floor which I was sliding to create this sound but then after I didn't work the way I wanted that I changed my directions to my wooden desk I have at home and then with the plank I made it so it went on the front and slide it slowly whilst recording it with a microphone after I did that I decided to put into F mode and then put on the to door which you can hear sliding when the character goes next to it from there I created a couple more sounds for the closing as well using the same principle but a different direction when I went into F mode and change some of the volumes and the background noise to be removed the sound came up amazing and I think that I enjoy creating the different sounds and if I could I would create all of the sounds which I had to outsource but because of the time I couldn't record most of them the sound for the water I have recorded but it didn't work out very well that's why I had to outsource it but with the door opening and closing I think I did a great job there is some slight bugs I would need to fix if I want to continue but all I know I think it was fun experience to create a sound effect myself

Adaptive Audio final vido

For this task I have learned a lot what I have to do such as in adaptive audio to ensure that all the footsteps all the sounds around such as the wind birds is very important because it makes the game feel like the real world without being said I have learned a lot about the different software which we got introduced this year such as F mode and audacity which I learned a lot about how I can edit videos more and I obtained a new skill which I'm very grateful to learn a new software which I can use in the future as best as I can and now when I know more about F mode and also in Adobe premiere pro video editing and sound editing kind of you very great about knowing more things that will make me want to become a 3D environmental artist Ann also add my own sounds into my environment which will be great for me this experience has been great I have learned a lot about the different waste where you can edit and add new techniques into your environment or your work

Conclusion

In conclusion for this unit, I feel that I learned a lot and I will along even more later because it seems very interesting to work in F modes and within real to make my environment work sounds amazing as the real world with all the different sounds you can change and mix. with this being said I feel that this task has made me realise that it was very hard and that I learned a lot from the different software this year with this unit especially I feel that the tasks which were given to us or great way to break us into the different fields within the gaming environment and I really enjoyed it the certain tasks such as the showcase and the environment sound were heart but yet not that very hard just looking at all my work from the previous years and putting it in one was hard this to realise which work looks better than the others and you have to like look into which work did you enjoy doing more. with the audio environment you have to make sure that the sounds you're using are appropriate to your scene and looking back at all the work I have done makes me feel that I could have done more than just added that a little bit extra for more better quality of the sound or spend a little bit more time if I had the time to work on it with the last task which is adaptive audio I found it very difficult to work with the new software we got this year and get it up to the best undertake an to create something which I haven't done before but I feel that when we learn this software such as F mode in audacity putting it in unreal was the challenge and then making everything mixed together with the whole environment was difficult to make but then once you get to the rhythm of it you learn a lot of it and then it becomes easier and simpler to put some stuff in to have more change it up a bit putting on real tested there and repeat over again if you want better quality change the mixer into different often the one you had already I learned a lot this year and I'm grateful for it. like I said before if I had more time, I would love to change a couple more things and add more different solutions into the work which I have presented so far but all now I think that the work which we have presented for this unit how soon my understanding of this unit and how this unit challenged me to create something better than I have done before
